Since i did an all about Braids video for my youtube channel, I thought it will be just appropriate to also do a post about it. This is just to give some tips for those who have or want to get braids and to share my braids experience with you guys.
First of all: Why do I got braids (for the second time as well)?
So there is a german Youtuber (Shirin David) that I really enjoy watching. A few years ago she got Braids. And if im honest with you now: I thought they were horrible looking. I didn't liked them at all.
Than a friend of me always told me how good it looks and that it will look good on me as well. He told me I should get Braids too. At first I wasn't listening to him. Then last year on my summer holiday in Lecce, Italy, I saw an african woman doing Braids to a girl at the beach. I can't tell you have this was even possible, but all of a sudden, I felt in love with Braids. So I got them last year...and this year too. And doing them in Italy is A) much cheaper than doing them in Switzerland and B) I'm in Italy in the summer. If I would be the whole summer with my natural curly hair, I would literally die because I always get so hot! Braids, because you have a lot of Braids but thin one, they keep you fresher, so you don't feel the heat as much as you do with opened curly hairs. So that's a big plus! :)
How much does it costs?
Well as I did them in Italy, at the beach, it didn't costs me a lot. Last year I paied 100€ and this year 120€. I think that's really cheap because they do have a lot of work!
In Switzerland depending on where you do them you pay from CHF 400.- to CHF 800.- which I think it's insane. I would never spend so much for hairs to be honest.
How long does it take to do them?
Last year it toked me about three to four hours, but they were two women doing my braids. This year only one woman did them. She had more or less seven hours. It was exhausting sitting seven hours in the sand in such a hot weather. I actually burned my legs a bit that day. Hahaha :D
BUT it was totally worth it!
How long do they last?
Depending on how quick your hairs grow and how good you maintain your hair. Usually they last from one to two months. Then they start looking untended.
Well yes, it does a bit. You have to imagine that they put in extensions and to fix them with your own hair they really pull your hair from the root and start braiding. You'll probably have a bit of a headache or just a bit of pain on your scalp after one or too days. Also you might have a bit of pain whilst trying to sleep laying in your bed....but only for one or too nights.
Do Braids damage your own hair?
NO. They absolutely don't. African people actually say that it's a way of protection for your own hair because no heat can come to your hair which means that you are protecting it from chemical heat and sun heat.
There are also a lot of people that say that you will have hair loss after opening your Braids. Well I'd say that's a lie. I mean you will loose hair....and a lot as well. This might shock you a bit. But imagine: You should lose a tons of hairs every day. The thing is, you have Braids, so the hairs you actually lose in a day, stay captured in every single braid. Now when it comes to open your Braids after like two months, every single hair you have lost in two months, that got stocked in your braid, falls out by just one time. That's why it looks like you have a hair loss. But that's just totally normal, don't worry!
Now let's go on to the tips that I want to share with you incase you have or want to get Braids.
Tips
1. You can wash your Braids normally, as if you would wash your normal hair. It might be good to use a shampoo and conditioner all in one for softer hair though.
2. To dry them don't rub the towel on to your Braids but just gently kind of press the Braids into the towel. Than you can blow dry them.
3. If the end should open, you can put your ends in hot water (even cooked hot water). This just serves to bolt the braid.
4. If your Braids are a bit wave and not straight, you can also just put warm water on the braid using your hand. After that your Braids should look straight again.

Da ich ein All about Braids Video für meinen Youtube Kanal gemacht habe, dachte ich mir es were nur zu gerecht auch ein passender Post darüber zu schreiben.
Dieser Post sollte denjenigen helfen, die jetzt Braids haben oder sich welche machen lassen wollen. Ich teile meine Erfahrungen mit euch und gebe euch einige Tips.
Als erstes: Wieso habe ich mir Braids machen lassen?
Als ich die Braids das erste mal bei Shirin David gesehen habe, fand ich sie grässlich (man mag es kaum glauben). Ich dachte mir nur: Wie kann die sowas machen?! Ein Freund von mir möchte diese Frisur aber extrem und meinte immer zu mir, ich soll sie mir auch machen die würden mir bestimmt stehen. Naja ich war nicht begeistert von seiner Idee.
Letzten Sommer jedoch, als ich am Strand in Italien war, sah ich wie eine Afrikanerin einer Italienerin Braids machte. Es war ein Augenblick, den ich bis heute nicht erklären kann, welcher mir bewusst machte wie toll Braids doch aussehen. Ich war verliebt! :P Also habe ich sie mir letzten Sommer, sowie diesen Sommer in Italien machen lassen. Ich lass sie mir immer dort machen weil sie A) viel günstiger sind als in der Schweiz und B) bin ich immer im Sommer dort. Da ich mit meinen Natur Locken richtig heiss habe im Sommer, passen die Braids perfekt. Dadurch dass meine Haare dann zusammengeflochten sind, fühle ich die Hitze viel weniger! Sie behalten dich frisch. :)
Wie viel kostet es?
Da ich sie wie bereits erwähnt in Italien am Strand machen lassen habe, haben sie nicht wirklich viel gekostet. Letztes Jahr habe ich 100€ bezahlt dieses Jahr 120€. Ich finde das ist mega günstig, vor allem wenn man bedenkt wie viel Arbeit da drin steckt!
Hier in der Schweiz kostet das ganze von CHF 400.- bis CHF 800.-. Das ist wirklich verrückt so eine hohe Summe würde ich für eine Frisur nicht bezahlen.
Wie lange braucht mach um sie zu machen?
Letztes Jahr dauerte es ca. drei bis vier Stunden aber sie waren zu zweit. Dieses Jahr war es nur eine Frau die mir die Braids gemacht hat, deshalb hat es auch ca. sieben Stunden gedauert. Da ich sie am Strand gemacht habe, muss ich zugeben war es ein bisschen (sehr) anstrengend, vor allem weil ich oft in der Sonne war. Ich habe mir sogar meine Beine verbrannt. Hahaha :D
ABER es war es wirklich wert!!
Wie lange kann man die Braids drin lassen?
Es kommt natürlich auch ganz darauf an wie gut man sie pflegt. Man sagt aber im Schnitt kann man Braids ca. ein bis zwei Monate drin lassen. Danach fangen sie an schlimm auszusehen.
Ja, ein wenig schon. Ihr müsst euch vorstellen, um die Kunsthaar extensions rein zu machen, flechten sie sie so nah an der Wurzel an wie nur möglich. Dadurch ziehen sie sehr fest. Also ein bis zwei Tage später könnte man ein wenig Kopfschmerzen haben oder die Kopfhaut tut einem weh...vor allem beim Schlafen.
Machen die Braids die eigenen Haare kaputt?
NEIN. Sie machen die Haare überhaupt nicht kaputt. Die Afrikaner sagen (so viel ich weiss) sogar, dass Braids sogar als Haarschutz dienen sollen. Da die Naturhaaren mit den Kunsthaaren zusammengeflochten sind, kommt da keine Hitze ran. Weder Chemische Hitze noch natürliche, sprich Sonne. Also schützt es das Haar.
Übrigens gibt es auch viele Leute die sagen dass man nach dem aufmachen der Braids Haarausfall kriegt. Das ist übrigens auch nicht wahr. Ihr solltet jedoch wissen: Man verliert jeden Tag eine menge Haare, das ist ja normal. Jedoch können sie nicht rausfallen wenn sie in einem Zopf gewickelt sind. Sprich, all die Haare die rausfliegen sollten, fallen nur bei der Wurzel raus und bleiben dann in den Zöpfen fest. Wenn man dann die Braids aufmacht, fallen all die Haare raus, welche in dieser Zeit rausgefallen und in den Zöpfen feststeckten raus.
Nun gebe ich euch einige Tips falls ihr selbst Braids habt oder euch welche machen möchtet.
1. Die Haare könnt ihr ganz normal waschen, als würdet ihr eure "normalen Haaren" waschen. Es wäre jedoch vielleicht gut wenn ihr ein Shampoo und Conditioner alles in einem benutzt, welches für weiches Haar dient.
2. Um sie zu trocknen solltet ihr das Tuch nicht über die Braids rubbeln, sondern die einzelnen Zöpfe in das Tuch pressen. Danach könnt ihr sie mit einem Föhn trocknen.
3. Falls die Enden aufgehen solltet, könnt ihr sie einfach in heisses Wasser legen (auch gekochtes Wasser) um sie wieder zu verriegeln.
4. Und nun zum letzten Tip: Falls die Braids nicht mehr gerade sind, könnt ihr einfach mich warmem Wasser darüber streichen, indem ihr ganz einfach eure Hand nass macht, und schon sollten sie wieder gerade sein.
